U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (SSG) Matthew Andrews spent 10 years in the Army with multiple deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. He was a member of three combat deployments and was a member of the first unit deployed to Afghanistan after 9/11. He parachuted into the Iraq invasion and was a member of a Brigade Combat team.

In 2007, Matt led his men under fire against insurgents in Iraq and was directly hit by a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device. With disregard to his own safety, he saved his fellow service members killing three insurgents attempting to ambush his squad.

Although he survived two additional IED and EPG explosions, Matthew now suffers from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) along with migraines and vertigo. He also sustained injuries to his neck, knee and lower back during his service. Andrews was recognized with multiple awards for his service, including Army Commendation Medal with Valor, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal and many more.

Matthew is passionate about ministering to veterans in addition to active duty military and their families. He completed his bachelor’s degree from Liberty University in 2016 and has been accepted to the Master of Divinity program. He is also licensed by the Southern Baptist Convention as an Associate Pastor.

Matthew and his wife, Michelle, have three children. In 2017, they moved from Kalispell, Montana to Tatum, Texas to be closer to family. After a few years away, they want to get back to the spectacular mountains, the crystal-clear rivers, lakes, and lifestyle in Kalispell.

Operation FINALLY HOME and Edge Development are thrilled to help the Andrews family pursue their wish of moving back to Kalispell, Montana into a mortgage-free, custom-built home.
